2012 Storm Coaching Staff

Shane Rye:  Shane Rye coaches the 2010 and 2011 State IA Champions, The Benjamin School.  He won Lacrosse Coach of the Year honors in 2009 and was the offensive and defensive coordinator for Dwyer HS during their 2009 State IA Championship season.  He has coached with the Storm since its inception.  Shane is a certified trainer for US Lacrosse's Coaches Education Program.  He attended Belmont Abbey, where he was an Academic All-American, a two-time All Conference selection and a 1st Team All Tournament Selection.  Shane is originally from Pennsylvania and worked as a lacrosse recruiter prior to coming to Florida.

Tyler Black:   Tyler was a four-year varsity defenseman/LSM at Jupiter High School. During his senior year he received first team All-District, first team All-League and first team All American honors. Tyler played on Storm's inaugural team in 2008 and continued with Storm through his graduation in 2010. He's currently a Division I LSM at Jacksonville University and in his second year as a Storm u19 coach.

Jim Jacobs: Jim is one of the founders of JTAA lacrosse and co-founder of the u15 Jupiter Riptide.  He has been coaching youth lacrosse in northern Palm Beach County for 12 years, where his son is an attackman at The Benjamin School.   He is a member of the JTAA Lacrosse Board of Directors, a certified lacrosse referee and head coach at Jupiter Middle School.  He played Division I college lacrosse (goalie) at the University of Baltimore.

Billy Allen:   Billy is one of the true pioneers of lacrosse in South Florida. Billy is a member of the South Florida US Lacrosse Chapter Hall of Fame. He is the founder, president and coach of the Florida BRIDGE Lacrosse Program, which helps bring the game to underserved communities. Billy is also the president of the Palm Beach Lacrosse Foundation, and the 2002 and 2007 South Florida US Lacrosse High School Coach of the Year.  He is currently head coach at Palm Beach Central High School.

Aaron Flood:  Aaron grew up playing lacrosse in Baltimore and was a member of the CCBC Essex Juco National Championship team in 2005 and runners up in 2006. While at Essex he was also awarded Academic All-American honors. Following his time at Essex he attended Belmont Abbey College where he was an attackmen (clocking a 107mph shot), Team Captain, 1st Team All Tournament Selection and lead the team in goals during their 2008 Conference Championship run.

Dave Cirilli:   Dave is a northeast native who learned the game of lacrosse in GlastonburyCT. and later played for Providence College where he started as a defenseman.  Dave worked in Boston for many years before coming to Florida and has had experience coaching lacrosse at the youth level in BelmontMA and high school level in SwampscottMA.  Dave and his wife moved to West Palm Beach in January 2011, and  Dave coached one of Storm's u11 teams in 2011.

Mike Buttelman:  Mike has coached youth lacrosse Palm Beach Gardens during the past 3 years.  He currently is coaching the 5-6 grade division, where he coaches his son.  Mike was an All-American for Sachem (NY) HS, and played Division I lacrosse for the Towson State University Tigers.  He has also coached high school lacrosse at Calvert Hall in Baltimore, one of the nation's premier HS lacrosse programs.

Tim Teahan:  Tim has been involved in the Palm Beach Gardens Youth Athletic Association for 7 years.  Tim is in his third year as a youth lacrosse coach, where he coaches one of his sons, and he is a member of the PBGYAA Lacrosse Board of Directors.  Tim is also an assistant and head football coach and is the current President of the PBGYAA Tackle Football Board of Directors.


Joe Mastracchio:  Joe grew up playing lacrosse in Morris County New Jersey, which is a hotbed of competitive lacrosse in the northeast.  Moving to Florida, he was a 4 year varsity player at Cardinal Newman High School where he earned  All Conference and All-League Defensemen Honors. Joe coached  the junior varisity and was a varsity assistant at Cardinal Newman High School for 2 years. He is in his 4th year coaching for the Storm.  His younger brother, Michael, is an attackman playing at Saint Leo University, and was a member of the u17 u19 Storm teams and is one of the u-13 coaches during the summer. Joe is currently going to school for Landscape Design and Architecture at Palm Beach State College.

Tom Dean:   Tom is an assistant coach at Palm Beach Gardens High School and has helped out with Storm u11 during the past three years.  He was offensive coordinator on the 2008 State Champion team.  He is a chiropractor and owns Dean Wellness Center in Jupiter.  Tom has two sons, Joe and Thomas, who play PBGYAA lacrosse, and he helps coach Joe's K-2 team.  Tom played lacrosse at St. Johns University.


Justin Gilken: Justin is head coach at Palm Beach Gardens High School, and is one of the founders of Storm. Justin was defensive coordinator for Palm Beach Gardens during their undefeated 2008 State IA Championship season. He was also the 2007 South Florida US Lacrosse Assistant Coach of the Year. A lacrosse coach for more than 10 years, Justin has roamed the sidelines at Dwyer HS and Elizabethtown (PA) HS. He is a former Division III goalie at Washington and Lee, and was the first All-State player in the history of Downingtown (PA) High School, a school that has since turned out more than 30 All-State lacrosse players.

James Dorsey: James was born in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up playing lacrosse. His career started at St. Paul’s School for Boys and he later became a starting midfielder and standout for the Eagles at McDonogh School for Boys, whose elite high school lacrosse program is consistently ranked top 10 in the US. James attended the University of Maryland where he played lacrosse and then continued afterwards playing lacrosse at a club level. He currently coaches for JTAA and serves as a member of the JTAA Lacrosse Board.
