The Storm U19 Coaching Staff:
Justin Gilken: Justin Gilken is head coach at Palm Beach Gardens High School, and is one of the founders of the U19 Storm. Justin was defensive coordinator for Palm Beach Gardens during it's 20-0 2008 State IA Championship season. He is also the 2007 SoFla US Lacrosse Assistant Coach of the Year. A lacrosse coach for 10 years, Justin has roamed the sidelines at Dwyer HS and Elizabethtown (PA) HS. Justin is a former Division III goalie and was the first All-State player in the history of Downingtown (PA) High School, a school that has since turned out more than 30 All-State lacrosse players.

Blake Wintermute: Blake is a graduate of WT Dwyer High School, where he was a standout, two-time, All-South Florida defenseman. He has been a member of Dwyer's coaching staff since graduating in 2004 and with the Storm for six tournaments.

The Storm U17 Coaching Staff:
Shane Rye
  • Co-head coach of the Storm U-19 lacrosse program
  • Has been on the sideline for every U19 Storm game
  • Academic All-American
  • 2 time All Conference Selection at Belmont Abbey
  • 1st Team All Tournament Selection at Belmont Abbey
  • Defensive Coordinator at W.T. Dwyer High school for the past two years
  • Worked as a lacrosse recruiter prior to coming to Florida

Jon Friedrichs: Jon has been an assistant coach at Jupiter HS since 2006. Jon, a graduate of the College of William and Mary, has coached middies and attackmen with the Storm since the program was founded in 2007. John is also one of the founders and administrators of the Northern Palm Beach County Summer Lacrosse League.

The Storm U15 Coaching Staff:
Billy Allen: Billy is one of the true pioneers of lacrosse in South Florida. Billy is a member of the South Florida US Lacrosse Chapter Hall of Fame. He is the founder, president and coach of the Florida BRIDGE Lacrosse Program, which helps bring the game to underserved communities. Billy is also the president of the Palm Beach Lacrosse Foundation, and the 2002 and 2007 SoFla US Lacrosse High School Coach of the Year. He is currently head coach at Palm Beach Central High School.

Jim Jacobs: Jim is one of the founders of JTAA lacrosse and the Jupiter Riptide. He has been coaching youth lacrosse for 10 years, and is a member of the JTAA Boys Lacrosse Board of Directors. Jim is now coaching his son, a middle school attackman for the Benjamin School. He played college lacrosse (goalie) at the University of Baltimore.

The Storm U13 Coaching Staff:
Chris Heide: Chris has been head coach at WT Dwyer High School for 7 years, and led the team to the 2006 Florida State IA Finals. In addition, he coaches the 5th/6th grade 'Orange' PBGYAA lacrosse team, where his son is a standout middie. Chris played high school lacrosse and soccer on Long Island, and played his college lacrosse at Michigan State when it was a Varsity, Division I program.

Jeff Alexander: Jeff has coached youth lacrosse for 6 years. He currently coaches the 5th/6th grade 'Orange' PBGYAA lacrosse team with Chris, where his son anchors the defense. Jeff has also been a youth football coach in Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens 8 years.

The Storm U11 Coaching Staff:
Mike Buttelman: For two years, Mike has coached PBGYAA lacrosse at the 3rd/4th grade level, where his son is a player. Mike was a All-American for Satchem (NY) HS, and played Division I lacrosse for the Towson State University Tigers. He has coached high school lacrosse at Calvert Hall in Baltimore, one of the nation's premier HS lacrosse programs.

Tim Teahan: Tim has been involved in the Palm Beach Gardens Youth Athletic Association for 6 years. Tim is in his second year as a lacrosse coach for the Lighting Division, where one of his sons is a player, and he is a member of the PBGYAA Lacrosse Board of Directors. Tim is also an assistant and head football coach and is the current President for the PBGYAA Tackle Football Board of Directors. Storm Announcements
